Sustainable Aniline Leather
This product is made using non-toxic, natural leather from the renown Italian tannery DANI SpA.
Two-seater LC22 sofa
Frame made with high gloss polished and chromium plated tubular steel.
Loose cushions with a foam core and Dacron batting.
Covered with environmentally-friendly anilin leather.
Le Corbusier rejected sofas as being too “middle class”, and definitely did not design this model. Details aside, making the Grand Confort Grand Modèle chair three times as wide resulted in a pretty slick looking three-seater. And it’s comfortable, too!
There is nothing more embarrassing than a poor copy!
Our reproduction of this sofa means that you will get a piece of furniture that not only looks like the design it was based on, but also feels like the real deal.
Original bend radius
Copying a Le Corbusier design is no easy feat. To achieve the harmonious curves of the frame, the tubular steel first has to be gently bent, and then it has to be mitre welded.
Even nowadays, this is expensive, precision work, and cheap copies are easy to spot because their frames are less rounded, their edges sharper.
Welded seams polished to perfection
A lot of effort goes into making a good product! To manufacture the clean, almost invisible welded seams, welding must be done with a high degree of precision.
Once the seams have been welded, a lot of time is spent sanding the welded seams and then polishing them to a high gloss finish. Not until this is done to our satisfaction is the chromium plating process started.
Refining the frame with chrome
This is what the finished frame of our Corbusier chair looks like. A solid frame made of L profile steel is screwed to the steel pipe at four different points.
For long-lasting shine, we undergo a three-step chromium plating process using 30 micron chrome.
A stretchy underlay made of nylon straps is used to support the cushions.
Environmentally-friendly anilin leather
We only use “Lord” leather from the renowned Italian tannery DANI. In addition to its sumptuous, silky-smooth surface, it is produced in an climate-friendly manner and is free of harmful chemicals. Find out more

We sit on our ideas – especially when it comes to upholstery
The cushion is filled with foam of different degrees of hardness and it slopes slightly to the back.
This keeps you from sliding forward, something that is common in cheap reproductions. That single block of foam that they use costs only a fraction of what we use to upholster our cushions.
Upholstery perfected
The appeal of Corbusier chairs lies in the contrast between the austere, angular lines and the softness of the upholstery.
To achieve this, we use a combination of foams of different densities and upholstery batting.
This image shows two layers of foam and several layers of batting and Dacron.

Any Questions?
Is your furniture authentic?
We are building excellent modern reproductions of classic designs from the Bauhaus era to Mid Century, which absolutely match the very high quality standards of the products that are marketed to be the one and only "authentic" ones. We are talking of up to 90 year old designs which have been produced by different companies over the decades. Also materials and production technologies have greatly improved since the first prototypes. Calling any modern version of such "authentic" is nothing but a marketing hoax. How much is shipping?
